I can't fill out my bio without including my husband and best friend, Cal. We were born and raised only 40 miles apart in eastern Washington State, and met for the first time while attending Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma in 1975. Cal worked summers in Fairbanks as a carpenter and laborer during the trans-Alaska pipeline era. After graduation in May 1977, we packed our belongings in a little 2-wheel drive Toyota truck and moved north. We originally planned to be here for only six months, but felt so much at home in Alaska that we chose to stay. We were married in Washington later that winter.

We have had many adventures in Alaska, and look forward to even more in the future. As Cal regularly reminds me, “I know how to keep your life interesting.”

After 28 years of full-time work, I started my own business in 2004. I write NEPA documents (environmental assessments)and organize public meetings and workshops for federally funded projects. Cal is a sport fish biologist with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.
